Verify ABCO Certification
Members of the public can find out if an optometrist is certified by and a Fellow of the American Board of Clinical Optometry by calling or writing to the ABCO and requesting this information:
The ABCO can provide you with verification of the doctor's status with the ABCO, along with the following information:
- States in which the Doctor is Currently Licensed
- School of Optometry and Year Graduated
- Fellowships or Diplomates Held
- Certifications Held in an Optometric Subspeciality
Please note that it is not within the purview of the ABCO, as a certifying agency, to recommend or refer you to an optometrist or to provide advice or information about particular eye conditions or procedures. Information of this sort can be obtained by contacting local, state, or National optometric organizations such as the American Optometric Society or the American Optometric Association. You can find an optometrist near you by visiting the "Find an Optometrist" page on the website of the Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry.
